|Project Title||Azerbaijan: American Centers Outreach|
|Project Summary||Conduct weekly outreach with American Centers in Azerbaijan to facilitate greater engagement and mutual understanding between Azerbaijani and American youth.|
|Agency||Department of State|
|Number of Interns||6|
You will work with the Embassy Baku Public Affairs Section (PAS) to augment American Center (AC) programming through weekly outreach. Because few Americans study or live in Azerbaijan, the ACs have infrequent contact with native American English-speakers or representatives of American culture. More Azerbaijani-American interaction will advance PAS Baku’s strategic priorities of increasing mutual understanding and building people-to-people connections between our two cultures.
PAS Baku will assign you to an AC. You will develop creative ways to engage the AC weekly, for instance, via video chats, blogs, social media, projects, etc. Relevant topics include America, American culture, multiculturalism and tolerance in America, and the English language—but think outside the box! An Embassy employee will supervise you, and you will send brief progress reports every other week explaining what you did, how it went, whom you targeted, and how many individuals you reached.

With few Americans traveling to Azerbaijan, this e-internship is an exciting opportunity for you to represent the United States while learning about an extremely interesting country and culture. You will be given a fair amount of autonomy, so you can really exercise your creativity!
