Help us; we’re middle age government bureaucrats trying to figure out social media, it’s not pretty. The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. We add properties to our list every week. Each file on a property contains photographs of the property. We would like to post these photographs to social media, especially Flickr, and start an Instagram account. You would have access to the pdfs of the files. We just need you to (1) extract the photographs from the pdfs, (2) create a description for the property tailored to the social media site, (3) add tag information, and, (4) track the analytics of the postings. This can be done from anywhere. Our goals are to increase the exposure of our program to the public and also to increase our ability to find useful photographs for our own purposes (presentations, etc.) In the time it took us to write this project description we've received another 20 photos.
We are looking for people who can dedicate a few hours a week to posting photographs to social media sites. We are always open to new ideas of how to use the photographs in our collection to further our outreach to the general public.
