|Agency||Department of State|
|Number of Interns||3|
VSFS interns are tasked with tracking and reporting on social and traditional media coverage of any high-level media interviews, press briefings or media advisories that we coordinate or disseminate. Interns do research for various projects that we have going on. For example, our previous interns were heavily involved in research for a study of the Sub-Saharan African social media environment.
Interns are asked to keep an eye on social media and alert us to any large-scale conversations going on about the US Government and Africa. We also request interns assistance in creating social media graphics and video or photo clips to be used on the AF Media Hub Twitter and Facebook pages.
There are many Francophone and Lusophone countries in Africa so a proficiency in either French OR Portuguese is desired by not required for our intern candidates.
Other desired skills include: strong internet research skills, experience with social media campaigns, knowledge and interest in U.S. foreign policy and sub-Saharan Africa, and experience with graphic design and video editing.
