An XML file format has been created to standardize information regarding antenna patterns and other electrical and physical attributes of the antenna. I would like to a schema developed to validate an XML file to ensure it is consistent with the antenna pattern standard. Once the antenna pattern is in a standard and valid format, I would like to be able to visualize the pattern in 3D using either a Python script or MATLAB code (bonus points for both). |

An example antenna pattern xml file will be provided as a starting point. The genesis of the pattern standard can be found here: http://nsma.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/wg16_99_050.pdf. I have added additional information I would like capture in the new standard. |

The CIA World Factbook lists a wide variety of information on 265 countries and geographic elements. It offers information on such categories of information as: terrorism, government, energy, economy, military, transnational issues, communications, people and society, geography, and transportation. We are currently developing one-page summaries of information about a country that visitors can download and print. Our goal is to provide summaries designed for specific customers such as teachers, journalists, travelers, economists, and others. Samples produced so far are crafted individually, which is time consuming. We would like to develop an automated system that would greatly streamline the production process. There are two current and one former college professors on the team that will work with the intern to ensure they have a rewarding educational experience while making a valuable contribution to a popular public website. There is a full-time database manager on the team to help interns with the technical aspects of this work. |

The World Factbook is a highly regarded resource visited by more than 80 million members of the public each year. Interns will be able to see the results of their efforts on our website and show their work to classmates, peers, professors, and recruiters. |
