The Office of Emerging Policy (DCO-X) is home to the USCG’s strategic foresight program, Project Evergreen, which is aimed at supporting today’s leaders as they prepare the Coast Guard to succeed in a dynamic and uncertain future.
Evergreen workshops use Human Centered Design (HCD), design thinking, foresight tools and techniques to identify strategic challenges and opportunities. The selected intern will join a highly-motivated team of Strategic Analysts as they explore transitioning traditional in-person workshops to a remote environment. Internship tasks may include evaluating applicability of remote collaboration platforms, identifying best practices for conducting remote workshops, applying HCD and foresight tools to a remote environment, and assisting with analysis of workshop outputs.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, proficient working in a remote environment, possess strong writing and/or analytical skills, and be curious about learning more about the practice of HCD, design thinking and foresight.
