@StateDeptPM is looking for several highly motivated, self-starting individuals to track foreign language reporting in Arabic or French on the over $170 Billion in U.S. Government programs administered by State’s Political Military affairs (PM) Bureau. These include foreign military and direct commercial sales, security assistance, peacekeeping capacity building, and conventional weapons destruction.
Using a list of search terms and other English-language resources PM/CPA will provide, the incumbent will research, translate, compile, and/or analyze relevant selections of foreign language articles, blogs, and social media mentions on the above programs in brief daily and/or weekly summaries and reports.
Announcements of U.S. arms sales and security assistance are breaking news in countries around the world, with major implications for national security and global markets. The incumbent will gain valuable experience working at the intersection of foreign policy, international business, and media relations and produce reports for State Department officials. Their analysis will both inform policymakers and impact how decisions are taken and implemented.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in one of the requested languages and also have commensurate knowledge of the country or region in question. Students of journalism, international relations, business, national security policy, history, or area studies would all have the relevant skills and experience.
