The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) is proud to direct the worldwide overseas building program for the Department of State. Working with other offices and bureaus, foreign affairs agencies, and Congress, OBO's challenge is to set worldwide priorities for the design, construction, acquisition, maintenance, use, and sale of real properties and the use of sale proceeds.

The Office of Master Planning and Evaluations (MPE) supports OBO programs and projects with a wide range of planning and evaluation services. MPE manages site acquisition planning and the development of master plans to identify optimum project/site use, including New Embassy/New Consulate Compound (NEC/NCC) alternatives. MPE also conducts purchase and sales appraisals, market surveys and undertakes new initiatives by evaluating long-term trends and exploring opportunities for improved real estate and property management.
