Project Description

South Africa's Province of KwaZulu-Natal and its cities of Durban and Richard's Bay have arrangements with the U.S. State of Maryland, and the U.S. cities of Chicago, Illinois; New Orleans, Louisiana, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dozens of different activities happen each year under these agreements, in areas as diverse as health, elementary education, science and technology, trade and investment, and the arts, but that more would be possible with improved coordination including more frequent communication about potential engagements and for broadening and deepening exiting engagements. The intern would examine the benefits of existing projects and programs and work with one or more of the Sister City/State pairs to help find ways to improve the outcomes of the pairing arrangement.
