Project Code: STATE-ARG-175
|Project Title||Argentine Positions in Multilateral Fora|
|Project Summary||Map Argentine positions (voting) in multilateral fora, with a focus on the United Nations, and UN family agencies, on issues ranging from nuclear proliferation to human rights.|
|Agency||Department of State|
|Number of Interns||2|
The goal of this project is to study the voting pattern of the Government of Argentina in multilateral fora, with a focus on the United Nations and UN family agencies, across different political administration. Ideally, in addition to tallying Argentine positions, the candidate would be able to cross reference these positions with those of the United States and analyze how whether U.S. and Argentine positions have diverged over time, or not. The study should also incorporate political data from Argentina, mostly to showcase whether voting positions changed dramatically from one political administration in Argentina to the next. In the analysis part, it would useful if the intern could also assess whether Argentina has had a consistent principled approach to foreign policy issues over time, or whether their positions have been molded to fit political mood swings in Buenos Aires.
Ideally one intern could work the statistical part of the analysis while the other can work on the political analysis. Hopefully both can coordinate and work in tandem.
