|Project Summary||The U.S. State Department’s Office of eDiplomacy is looking for a virtual intern to explore ways diplomats and other foreign affairs officials can use cutting-edge technologies to better collaborate and share knowledge.|

We would like you to help us explore ways to harness new technologies to augment the State Department’s collaboration and knowledge management tools. The State Department How can recent developments in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, analytics, search, and related fields be applied to help diplomats capture, share, and find the knowledge that equips them to advance U.S. foreign policy? This project would involve research across academic and other open sources. Deliverables would include brief, bi-weekly summaries of your findings, written for an audience of tech-savvy foreign affairs professionals whose feedback can inform the direction of
your subsequent research. A capstone report will present your analysis of the most promising new fields and their potential uses. A good understanding of some of the above technologies is useful, as is familiarity with tools and best practices relating to knowledge management and collaboration. Interest in foreign affairs is a plus.
The Office of eDiplomacy acts as an applied technology think tank for the U.S. Department of State. As part of the Bureau of Information Resource Management, eDiplomacy supports U.S. diplomats across the globe with collaborative technologies and promotes diplomatic and technology innovations to both foreign affairs colleagues and civil society partners.
