Project Description

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs is looking for a Graphic Design, Film or Digital Media student who has an excellent understanding of videography, animation/graphic design and video editing. Candidates should have strong creative and communication skills that enable them to envision the target audience and appropriately package CA’s message in a smart, crisp and engaging design for social media.
Looking to create eye-catching short videos that stand out in crowded newsfeeds, while maintaining an appropriate look and tone for the Department and the issues discussed. The videos should inform U.S. citizens planning to travel or live abroad and/or foreign visitors and immigrants coming to the United States. Content should be of professional grade: carefully-edited, short, and memorable informational videos and animations. Potential video topics could include: the U.S. passport and U.S. visa application process, travel safety tips, and overseas citizen services.

Interns should have access to all software programs associated to make these products and will have access to Consular Affairs (CA) subject matter experts, as well as some access to stock video and images. All content should adhere to relevant copyright laws. Created content will be featured on CA’s Social Media platforms that boast a reach of more than 954,000 followers worldwide.
