|Project Summary||The Master Planning Office is looking for study abroad students who wish to create a report of their city they live in or cities they plan on visiting. Students wishing to apply should be living overseas, be interested in urban planning, international affairs, photography, graphics and writing.|

This will be a great internship for student who are looking for a relaxed internship while studying abroad. This will be similar to creating a blog about your study abroad location, but more defined for Department of State uses. The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) directs the worldwide overseas building program for the Department of State. This internship will be similar to the Foreign City Mapper, but will be more detailed oriented to urban planning, city development, transportation, major routes for demonstrations, city culture, and on site perspective. The Master Planning Office will also tasks the intern to help determine which part of their city would be the best area to build a new U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
We are looking for students studying abroad during the internship (August 2016 to May 2017). You can be studying for one semester or one year. If you are interested in urban development and city context this will be the internship for you. We will also have interns working with Geoloader which is OBO's mapping tool.
The Mapping Tool Application (Geoloader) will be used as the primary method for collecting Unclassified City
Background Information in the form of GIS data. The application will allow GIS data to be collected in
a standardized way. The intern must adhere to OBO provided templates and naming conventions.
