Project Description

The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) directs the worldwide overseas building program for the Department of State. The Master Planning Office studies potential land that the U.S. Government may purchase. Satellite imagery and drone imagery are very important to our work. Our office wants to see if drones can be a future aspect to our master planning analysis.

Applications for Master Planning – market/industry survey of the extent to which UAVs are being used by architects/planners to gather data for master planning. How are they being used? What barriers are preventing expanded use? This will be a one semester internship. Half of the semester we will focus on domestic (USA) use and regulations. The second part of the semester we will focus on international regulations. Depending on the amount of data available online, there might be flexibility to extend the internship for another semester.
