|Agency||Department of State|
|Number of Interns||1|
Provide research assistance for the Office of Regional Security Policy, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, on the U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy - a major U.S. policy priority and the focus of the Vice President’s recent participation in the East Asia Summit. Specifically, Hannah would research and propose opportunities for the United States and the Republic of Korea (ROK) to more closely align and message our respective Indo-Pacific strategies in key areas, such as Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, and maritime South Asia. Working closely with the EAP/RSP Security team, Hannah will identify potential areas of concrete US-ROK cooperation to advance these strategies, including security and transnational crime, infrastructure financing, and governance. The end product of the virtual internship would be an eight to ten page summary of US and ROK visions for the Indo-Pacific, opportunities to align and message our strategies, and specific recommendations for cooperative projects that could be implemented through the existing US-ROK dialogue on the Indo-Pacific.
