Project Summary Mentor a group of Afghan Fulbright students and help them gain a better understanding of U.S. culture, U.S. academic and university life, and help them improve their English scores during their prep year in Afghanistan. These Fulbrighters will depart for the U.S. in summer 2020.

Project Description

The virtual interns will each mentor a group of 10-15 Afghan Fulbright scholars before they
depart for their studies in the U.S. in summer 2020. Unlike other Fulbright programs around the world, Afghan Fulbrighters spend one prep year in Afghanistan taking the TOEFL and GRE and working with IIE to get a university placement.

The virtual intern would help their scholars better understand U.S. culture, attending university in the U.S, and moving to the U.S. as a foreigner. Interns will introduce various topics for discussion to their Fulbright group biweekly or monthly and field questions from the Fulbrighters throughout the project.

Candidates should have an excellent understanding of U.S. culture and the U.S. higher education system, excellent oral and written communication skills, and be knowledgeable of various online tools and social media platforms to facilitate communication with the Fulbrighters.

The virtual intern would work with U.S. Embassy Kabul's Public Affairs Section.
