Project Description

The NSF Division of Social and Economic Sciences is gearing up for external review of our social science grant funding programs in the summer of 2020. The review takes place via of a Committee of Visitors or "COV" (see link under additional information), a group of distinguished experts representing our stakeholders who come to NSF to review our practices and funding portfolio, leading to a public report to an agency Advisory Committee.
For the COV, we prepare extensive briefing materials drawn largely from internal sources. With this project, we are hoping to explore and demonstrate the versatility of existing NSF public data, and information gleaned from other complementary sources, to address questions of interest to our stakeholders.
A successful project would generate unique products useful to the COV in their assessment. An outstanding project would create new approaches for the Division to make sustained use of these data sources for ongoing analysis and outreach materials.
