The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Marketing Regulatory Programs, Information Technology (MRP -IT) and Dairy Program (DY) is providing an e-Internship opportunity to develop a Web-based User Interface (UI) to query Dairy Program historical decisions published in the Federal Register based on a range of options such as date, federal register publication pages, topic, etc. The project includes creating the syntax that defines meta tags for the files and establishing naming conventions for the conversion of PDF files into a structured data. The e-Intern will work alongside with the MRP IT Team in collaboration with the DY Project Owner to bring this application to life.
The goal is to build a UI that is intuitive and user-friendly for users to navigate the system without having to resort to user documentation. The UI will help USDA employees, as well as industry stakeholders and the general public to find historical Federal Register Documents for users researching historical policy.
You will work closely with the MRP IT Developer Team to collaborate on the design of the UI, design meta tags and establish the file naming convention. The ideal candidate will have experience in:
• Front and back end web application development;
• developing meta tags; and
• using open source frameworks, libraries, and tools.
You should be available for periodic video calls during business hours (East Coast time) for the duration of the project. The MRP IT Developer Team is flexible and will schedule calls that accommodate your schedule.
