Project Description

Are you a communications rockstar? Do you spend hours a day scrolling through Twitter and reading the top stories on news sites? Do you doodle during classes or in your free time? The public affairs and press office in the State Department’s Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation wants you! We are looking for a media-savvy college student who wants to channel their press and social media obsession to build an awesome resume.

Our bureau’s mission is to keep the world’s most dangerous weapons—nukes, chemicals and biological toxins—out of the hands of the worst people. And we need someone to scour social media platforms as well as news media to find out what people are saying about us and our key issues. We also need a creative soul to find catchy ways to illustrate some cool issues (think missiles and nukes) and other issues that maybe aren’t as scintillating (think UN resolutions and treaties). If you’ve got interest or experience in international security and nonproliferation, that would be a major bonus.
