Project Code: STATE-IND-13
|Project Title||Needs-based Research for Academic Boot Camp Programs|
|Project Summary||Work with U.S Department of State English Language Fellows and the Regional English Language Office (RELO) to research the needs of university students throughout India to help determine their English language levels, academic readiness, and perceptions to shape the design of future programs.|
|Agency||Department of State|
|Number of Interns||1|
The Regional English Language Office (RELO) designs, implements, and manages various programs to help teachers and learners improve their success with teaching/learning English language skills. We note that a high percentage of university students are not fully prepared to study in English at tertiary level to get the most out of their academic studies. We have some programs to support and improve learning before tertiary level and we believe regardless of English proficiency level, students remain in need of academic skills development for more effective success in tertiary level. We are looking to research their skill set, needs, and perceptions more broadly in order to better bolster the design of programs we offer.

RELO New Delhi will have eight Fellows in place throughout India fro 2019-2020 academic year. You will be interacting with professionally trained English language educators to gather information from them, their students, and their academic institutions among other contacts to create an analysis on the current role of English language, the perceived gaps in skill set, which will help guide the RELO office for future Fellow placements and program implementation.
