Project Description

The National Science Foundation EASE team manages two White House awards for excellence. The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government for K-12 STEM teaching excellence. An award may be given to two teachers from each of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Department of Defense Education Activity schools, and the U.S. Territories. The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) recognizes those individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to mentoring for individuals historically underrepresented in STEM. The mentors can come from industry, academia, primary and secondary education, military, non-profit organizations, foundations, or government. Each Presidential Awardee receives national recognition for their dedication to students and mentees, enabling them to join the future STEM workforce and become STEM literate citizens capable of making informed decisions about issues impacting their future. You would join the National Science Foundation EASE team in implementing the national award programs. The position entails a number of opportunities including:

• Design promotional materials for the program
• Analyze trends in data to inform program revisions and implementation
• Help tell our story by writing articles about award winners
• Assist with social media for the program
• Assist in analyzing the impact of the program
• Research national programs or professional development opportunities that could serve and/or support alumni interests
• Explore and help expand outreach opportunities

We are looking for dedicated STEM and STEM Education college students who are motivated to improve the future of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the United States. You will work with a team of NSF program officers, student fellows, and program specialist in implementation of the PAEMST and PAESMEM national awards.
