Project Description

Two interns will participate remotely with the Political Section in gathering open source data related to human rights violations in El Salvador, review raw data provided by government and NGO contacts, and track trends in a range of issues from human trafficking, gender based violence, abuse of force, freedom of expression, LGBTI issues, and more. You will review press reports and other publically available data in Spanish, translating them and adding them to a log of events to be included in the Human Rights Report and other products. You will also review raw data on human rights violations and crime statistics, updating trackers and monitoring migration trends. You will also help draft and text for inclusion in human rights reporting. Correspond with leaders in the defense of human rights to gain insights and make recommendations about human rights topics and trends.
