Project Description

U.S. global health policy is premised on the belief that no country can operate in isolation and that the health concerns of the 21st century do not stop at national borders. In Malaysia, U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur is working with government, academia, and NGO partners to address shared challenges related to infectious diseases, including rabies, dengue, Zika, TB, malaria, and HIV/AIDS. This project focuses on analyzing Malaysia's disease prevention, detection, and response efforts to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses and generate recommendations for U.S. public health engagement. Additionally, the Virtual Student will regularly collect, analyze, and summarize open-source articles and publications related to infectious disease topics of interest, with the goal of tracking current issues and identifying tomorrow's challenges.
