|Project Title||Identify and Quantify the Extent of Belgium’s Regional Government-Owned Enterprises|
|Project Summary||Belgium is a valuable ally whose economy includes a number of state-owned or semi-state-owned enterprises. Understanding the extent of these enterprises and the reach of Belgium’s state investment fund will improve our understanding of Belgian decision making in specific industry sectors.|

Belgium has two main linguistic regions, Wallonia and Flanders, each with its own government structure and investment bodies. These regional governments control a network of enterprises either through ownership stakes or investment mechanisms. We would like to better understand these networks, and we need the help of a determined researcher with some French language skills (and maybe Dutch, too). The outcome of your research will be lists of affected enterprises (along with key contacts within each) and explanations of the extent to which the enterprises are under state control. Using visualization software, map these enterprises by industry and show percentages owned by regional or even municipal governments. Identify trends and opportunities for engagement by analyzing your findings.
French language skills required, Dutch language skills useful. You must be skilled with spreadsheets (Excel) and visualization software to collect and analyze data.
