Are you inquisitive and resourceful? Are you interested in conducting market research? Do you like working with people to implement your research recommendations? Are you interested in international development? USAID Philippines is looking for an individual to update its Gender Analysis, particularly after COVID-19 has impacted the economy, and women, in particular.
You will produce three gender analyses for use in Philippines strategic planning in the areas of economic growth, governance, and environment objectives. You will then work with each team to ensure that items identified are incorporated into USAID projects in those areas. We know that Gender-Based Violence has increased during the pandemic. But how do we address this, for both women, and men, in the short and long term activities of USAID? This is one of many issues you will address in your research.
You will correspond with a wide variety of key stakeholders, including Filipinos that may benefit from USAID programming. You will work with USAID employees, who will provide in-person and technical literature from local academic institutions, civil society organizations, and think tanks. You will use country-level gender analyses undertaken by the government and other donors or academics; reports by United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committees; and shadow reports and reports by UN and regional intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, and USAID implementers.
You should have an ability to conduct research using a variety of sources on the web, and a working knowledge of survey monkey or google forms. You will start with voluminous reports and data, and distill these into a report that outlines the status of women, and men, in the Philippines after COVID-19.
You will then develop guidance for USAID to incorporate key factors in designing programs with particular attention to Filipono women, and men's changing needs due to COVID-19's impacts on the economy and political landscape.
Perfect for the analytical thinker and good writer.
