In this project, VSFS interns will provide research into how various foreign actors are approaching relationships within Portugal. This includes not only the government (central, provincial, and municipal) but also companies (public and private), institutions (cultural, academic, scientific, etc), and private citizens (such as tourists or exchange programs). Interns would work with Political and Economic Officers and create a tracker via spreadsheet of major engagements, agreements, and investments through time, in addition to drafting reports analyzing the major tends for use by policy makers. This internship provides an opportunity to learn about U.S. diplomacy an important ally. Interest in China, Africa, or Latin America relations would be helpful. Portuguese or Chinese skills would be helpful, but not required.
