The Intern will compile news summaries of articles and reporting on the Merida Initiative, a $3bn USD bilateral
security cooperation mechanism between the United States and Mexico, managed by the State Department's International Narcotics and Law Enforcement office at Embassy Mexico. The summaries should also include
news relevant to the Merida Initiative and its programs, which span the spectrum of the law enforcement and
justice sectors in Mexico. The intern should use multiple information sources including Spanish and English language publicly available content, such as newspapers, op-eds and blogs; television/radio programs; social
media, including Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, and public statements by government officials. The Intern(s) will deliver a daily summary to their INL mentor. Readership includes Embassy section heads, and senior Washington personnel in the State Department and White House.
