|Project Title||Impact of Drought on HIV infected and affected Namibians|
|Project Summary||1. Conduct a desk review on: drought and HIV in Southern Africa, specifically Namibia. 2. Draft a SOW for an assessment to address missing or needed data to assess impact of drought/food insecurity on HIV treatment adherence.|
|Agency||Agency for International Development|
|Number of Interns||3|
This project has two components to it.
1) White paper/desk review: the intern will conduct a desk review and draft a white paper on drought and HIV in Southern Africa, specifically Namibia. This concise document should highlights the issues, severity, implications and what other countries are doing to address the issue. Drought is a major public health and security issue right now in the region, but limited information is available in a consolidated manner for USAID to reference and use with internal audiences, the US Embassy Windhoek, the State Department (to request relief and/or additional funds) and for external use to coordinate and collaborate with external donors and partners.
2) Draft a SOW for USAID to then fund in order to gather missing or needed data to assess impact of drought/food insecurity on HIV treatment adherence. This SOW will utilize the white paper as background and will follow USAID standard format.
We are looking for someone with strong analytical, verbal and writing skills. Ability to work independently or with a small virtual team. Fluent in English. Interest in the multi-disciplinary and cross-cutting interactions of environment and health in sub-Saharan Africa. Sample formats will be provided to the intern.
