Project Description

The student intern will work alongside Innovation Center staff in reviewing information and results learned to-date, as well as planning for future initiatives. Through this project, the intern will gain an in-depth understanding of Medicare payment issues, claims data, evaluation methods, bundled payment methodologies, and how innovation within government happens.

The project will entail the following types of tasks:
- Search peer-reviewed literature to compile studies regarding Innovation Center bundled payment initiatives and other similar programs
- Study financial results from models such as Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced in order to discern patterns
- Review available evaluation data and results from the independent evaluations of bundled payment models.
- Conduct quantitative analyses using Medicare claims data (SAS or Stata preferred) in order to investigate trends and inform recommendations on methodology, pricing, and quality measures for future initiative
