The Greening Diplomacy Initiative works with U.S. embassies and posts abroad, as well as foreign diplomatic institutions here in the U.S. and elsewhere, to leverage diplomacy as a way to make the world a more environmentally sustainable place. This covers a wide array of programs, projects, and technologies. As one example, we leverage diplomatic institutions’ energy needs as a way to add more renewable energy to the grid around the world. Another example is that we work to showcase our on-site wetlands at some embassies to help host countries learn about different water treatment and storage technologies that might help their infrastructure. This is a dynamic office and you will be working on high-impact, global projects that directly contribute to improving environmental sustainability worldwide and increasing public diplomacy opportunities for the United States’ government. Our virtual intern will work on a variety of assigned and self-driven projects, allowing them to choose their own adventure and develop the skills they would like to. Students interested in communications, journalism, media production, social media, international relations, and environmental issues encouraged to apply.
