Do you have strong desire to effectively and significantly contribute to U.S. foreign policy while working directly with the leadership of U.S. Consulate General? If yes, then this position is for you. The Office of the Consul General for Northern Germany is seeking a self-motivated, independent-minded person with strong writing skills who is capable of collaborative work. Our Austria-sized district is comprised of five German states with a combined population of 15 million and representing a sizeable portion of the German Gross Domestic Product (GDP). We are undertaking several projects to improve not only the awareness of the U.S. businesses and exchange programs within the region, but also to expand ties through bolstering existing sister-city relationships. This requires understanding relationships between organizations and key interlocutors, and when necessary creating briefs for the Consulate regarding the same. These counterparts may be either American or German. Furthermore, we have projects that will require an ability to translate ideas into action-oriented project proposals to assist the Consulate with its discussions to revamp, renew, and reorient specific programs within our district to benefit bi-lateral relations. At the end of your internship, you will have learned how to effectively use your communication and interpersonal skills to advance U.S. policy objectives, such as increasing bilateral trade and countering U.S. geopolitical competitors. You will work directly with the Office of the Consul General and the Consul General himself, who is strong advocate and practitioner in mentoring and developing talent. Do you want to make a lasting impact on the transatlantic relationship in Northern Germany? If so, then this internship is for you! We want you!
You will working in concert with the Consulate's Public Diplomacy and Political/Economic Sections and collaborating with other Consulate interns to advance innovative diplomatic projects focused on improving bilateral trade and countering U.S. geopolitical competitors by translating undertakings into written proposals for action-oriented engagement.
