The Office of Management Strategy and Solutions is looking for a virtual intern to provide critical support to its Consulting and Advanced Projects (CAP) team, leveraging your creativity and research skills to come up with new and innovative ways to modernize management practices in the Department. CAP is uniquely positioned to facilitate and coordinate activities across all Management bureaus in the Department, giving the intern an opportunity to interface with a broad array of the Department’s most critical offices.
We are looking for interns who can help us think outside the box when it comes to the way we do business. You would help the CAP team find innovative business practices being used in the private sector that can be channeled into the federal government. More specifically, you would help us find the latest news articles, reports, Ted Talks, etc. on the best practices around management, leadership, organizational culture, process improvement, and cost savings ideas. You would also help develop one pagers, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials to help present these innovative ideas to the larger CAP team and market them broadly to the Department’s management professionals. (Previous interns have had the opportunity to work on projects for seniors leaders in the Department.)
Ideal candidates will demonstrate interest in private sector business practices. Interns should have strong research skills, and have an interest in translating research into practice in the public sector. Working as part of a team or independently, interns should also have strong interpersonal and writing skills. Data analysis and/or data visualization skills are a plus!
