Project Description

EducationUSA in Northeast Asia and the Pacific (NEAP), a region covering, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan and the Pacific Islands, has several top-sending countries to the United States, and a number of growing markets. In spite of the large number of students studying in the United States from the NEAP region, in college and university promotional media, the region lacks representation. Students from this region respond positively to seeing students from their countries in videos, social media, testimonials, articles, etc.; however, such content is difficult to find.

This project aims to locate existing media with students from NEAP from a variety of institutions, encourage U.S. higher education to expand representation of NEAP, and engage with campus organizations to empower and encourage them to increase the visibility of students from NEAP.

Building upon the foundation of last year's work, interns will work directly with the NEAP Regional Educational Advising Coordinator and the Project Lead to build a database of media, international student organizations, and resources for EducationUSA advisers, and ultimately to connect students studying in the United States with EducationUSA advisers and prospective students in NEAP. Interns will also communicate with U.S. higher educational institutions to help them build their capacity for reaching NEAP students.
