Project Description

Developing and transition countries can contribute to the mitigation of global greenhouse gas emissions including through energy sector reform, adoption of renewable and cleaner sources of energy, conservation of forests, and sustainable management of agriculture, forests, and other landscapes. At the same time, weather and climate impacts are undermining progress in reducing poverty and improving economic growth in countries around the world, as well as compromising the effectiveness and resilience of U.S. development assistance. To address these many challenges, USAID supports renewable energy, sustainable landscapes, and climate change adaptation in developing countries and applies climate risk management (CRM) to USAID development assistance.

The intern will support staff in the USAID Office of Global Climate Change (E3/GCC) and the Climatelinks implementation team to research the stories behind USAID climate and development activities. These stories will help USAID document:
Impact of activities, drawing on performance monitoring and evaluation results and qualitative assessments of stakeholders
Context in which the activities are operating
Challenges experienced in the implementation of activities and strategies used to address or design around those challenges
Reflections of stakeholders involved in activities, including lessons learned

The reporting will further:
Communications of the impact of USAID assistance
Learning among development practitioners
Documenting nature and impact of USAID assistance

The tasks of the intern will be finalized at the start of the internship based on USAID’s priorities at that time as well as the interests and skills of the intern.
