|Project Summary||The U.S. Consulate in Naha, Okinawa, Japan is looking for a remote intern who will collaborate primarily with the Political-Economic Section to advance our priorities. The intern may also assist with advancing Public Affairs Section goals, as needed.|

As a remote member of the U.S. Consulate in Naha, Okinawa (Japan), the virtual intern will assist our Political-Economic Section on a range of issues, including political-military affairs, economic, environment, science, technology, and health affairs. On occasion, the remote intern will also help our Consulate’s Public Affairs Section to advance their work. Ideally, we are seeking an intern who can read and speak Japanese fluently in addition to having college-level English reading and speaking ability. Responsibilities will include: researching economic trends, tracking environment, science, technology, and health developments, and conducting political analysis. The Public Affairs Section may request assistance as needed with their public outreach activities.

Okinawa is a very interesting place and the intern will learn about Okinawa's uniqueness through this internship. In addition, the intern will learn about how an overseas Post functions and the type of political, economic, and public affairs work carried out by both State Department Foreign Service Officers as well as our Japanese colleagues at the Consulate.
