This project is the result of a collaboration between USAID and DOD and the intern will have the benefit of mentors from both organizations. The intern is expected to be self-motivated and to be able to make time for the project without prompting by mentors. The intern is also expected to be able to produce written products requiring minimal further editing in terms of grammar and style. Interns with Africa-related experience are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants with a mastery of a language spoken in East, West, or Central Africa other than French are also encouraged to apply. Interns are expected to take a pragmatic approach to their research, expecting data to be difficult to come by through simple internet searches or trips to the library.
