|Project Title||Data Heroes Wanted - Feed the Future Data Collection & Reporting Intern|
|Project Summary||Exciting opportunity to participate in supporting the Feed the Future Development Information Solutions (FTF DIS) module, part of USAID's goal to consolidate agency-wide achievement reporting and program management!|
|Agency||Agency for International Development|
|Number of Interns||2|
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) leads the U.S. Government’s international development and humanitarian efforts to save lives, reduce poverty, strengthen democratic governance, and help people progress beyond assistance. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., USAID has a 9,000-person global workforce.
This VSFS position is located in the Policy, Analysis, and Engagement (PAE) Office of USAID’s Bureau for Resilience and Food Security (RFS). RFS’s mission is to partner to advance inclusive agriculture-led growth, resilience, nutrition, and access to water and sanitation to accelerate and protect progress on the Journey to Self-Reliance. Under the Journey to Self-Reliance, the U.S. Government’s Feed the Future (FTF) initiative works hand-in-hand with partner countries to develop their agriculture sectors and break the vicious cycle of poverty and hunger. The Feed the Future Development Information Solutions (FTF DIS) module, is part of an interagency effort to consolidate USAID’s data, improve efficiencies across the entire Program Cycle, and support the ability to tell one cohesive story about how well USAID’s activities are achieving their goals. FTF DIS indicator data are the official results for Feed the Future, they provide the foundation for public documents like the Feed the Future Progress Snapshot, and they inform decisions on future programming.
The VSFS intern will work directly with the RFS Analytics and Learning Division Program Analysts to provide support with tasks that facilitate the integration of the FTFMS with the DIS and the aggregation of FTF data for reporting under the following:
● Assist with training sessions to instruct users how to enter data in FTF DIS by notetaking and documenting questions.
● Track and compile frequently asked questions during training and open FTF DIS Office hours.
● Provide support to the FTF DIS Help Desk.
● Set up user accounts.
● Assist with data aggregation and analyses under the supervision of the FTF DIS Program Analyst.
Benefits for the Intern:
● Very flexible work schedule;
● Specific, meaningful, and quality work experience;
● Mentoring and networking opportunities;
● Learn about the work done by USAID.
This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in gaining experience in international development, specifically in nutrition, food security, agriculture, resilience, and the water sectors. The VSFS intern must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on assigned tasks in a virtual environment. The intern must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to starting the internship stating that s/he will not share any data outside of USAID until USAID publicly releases the data. Students from all academic disciplines are welcome to apply.
