Project Description

This effort will support The Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance Bureau (AVC) requirement to enhance our ability to monitor the Weapons Mass Destruction(WMD)-related activities of countries and entities and verify the compliance of countries with their arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament agreements and commitments. Specifically, interns would provide open source research support to verification and compliance investigations into China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, Syrian, and Pakistan, and other treaty verification and compliance priorities. Our goal is to use open source data tools to monitor and detect potential violations as well as build evidentiary packages against suspect infringements. In effect, we seek to crowd source unclassified aspects of our mission set enlisting investigatively-minded researchers. Candidates should have familiarity and demonstrated acumen in open source research techniques and tradecraft, an ability to think deductively with available data about opaque challenges, and digest, process, and report on information. Foreign language abilities would be beneficial as well. We seek those who can connect the dots across an increasingly open internet and online researchable world.
