The Afghanistan Desk (SCA/A) at the State Department in Washington, DC coordinates U.S. foreign policy priorities with the interagency community and the U.S. Embassy in Kabul. SCA/A's Political-Military Unit coordinates closely with DOD and NATO Coalition Allies to promote security and stability within Afghanistan. SCA/A's Political-Military Unit tracks military developments, counterterrorism, security sector reform, and security assistance in Afghanistan. We will be hiring one virtual intern for the spring semester to research and track security trends in Afghanistan, coordinate talking points and background papers for State Department principals' Afghanistan-related engagements, and serve as a notetaker at virtual government and think tank events. Projects will range from short-fuse daily taskings to long-term analytical research. Interns must have good writing skills, but there are no foreign language requirements for this position.
