Through the MapGive project, the HIU is working to improve the availability of high-quality, open geographic data to support humanitarian and development interventions across the world. The Department works closely with other organizations including Peace Corps, USAID, American Red Cross, the World Bank, and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) to build and improve OpenStreetMap - an open and editable map of the world.
The eIntern will work in close coordination with the HIU’s GIS analyst to develop and enhance geo-referenced, relational datasets for use in supporting analyiss and response to humanitarian crises. Duties will include:
• Contributing to OpenStreetMap through the OpenStreetMap tasking manager.
• Evaluating data quality of spatial data produced in OpenStreetMap for HIU-sponsored crowd-sourced mapping projects;
• Produce written and graphic reports and presentations, and content to distribute via social media, on HIU-sponsored crowd-sourced mapping projects
