|Project Title||DocuProject: Humans of Kurdistan|
|Project Summary||Create innovative, watchable short video segments documenting the day to day lives of Kurdish Americans that better explain the United States to our social media audience in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.|
|Agency||Department of State|
|Number of Interns||2|
We are looking for an intern with experience or interest in creating short documentary-style films exploring the lives of Kurdish Americans and the Kurdish American community. The majority of Kurdish Americans live either in the Nashville or San Diego metropolitan areas, and therefore this project would be most easily accomplished by a student studying in one of those two cities. We are looking for content that is short, accessible, visually interesting, has a narrative arc, and explains some aspect about the United States that may not be obvious to those living abroad.

Please check out our Facebook page at facebook.com/erbil.usconsulate to learn more about our current content and audience. We currently have over 300,000 followers, of whom 92% are from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. We are attempting to grow to approximately 500,000 over the next year, and have been advised by local social media experts that short videos (primarily viewed on mobile phones) are currently the most popular and most shared content.
